Q: Where is Second Avenue Pier Located?

Q: Is Second Avenue Pier open Year Round?
A: NO, We close for the season from the Monday after Thanksgiving until the 1st Thursday in March.
Q: What are your Hours of Operation?
A: We’re open from 7:00 am until 1:00 am during peak season. The Pier closes @ 7pm on Wednesday nights due to fireworks show. Closing times vary during the off season. Please call ahead if you are unsure. 843-445-PIER (7437), press 1 for tackle shop.
Q: How much does it cost to fish from Second Avenue Pier?
A: A Daily Fishing Pass is $10.00. Bait is $7.00 + tax per package. Rod Rental package is $27.50 per day plus a $10.00 deposit that’s refunded when the gear is returned.
Q: What types of Bait are available at Second Avenue Pier?
A: We sell frozen Shrimp, Mullet & Squid for $6.00 + tax per package.
Q: Do I need a Fishing License or Salt Water Fishing License to fish from Second Avenue Pier?
A: No, we pay all State and County permits and fees that entitle you to fish from the Pier with your paid Daily Fishing Pass.
Q: Why do you have to pay for general admission?
A: All of the local fishing piers are privately owned. We must charge a small fee of $2.00 per person for upkeep. It costs a lot of money to build and maintain these structures. Piers are constantly battered by wind, waves and even Hurricanes. If we didn’t charge this fee, we couldn’t stay in business.
Q: When was Second Avenue Pier built?

Q: How long is the Pier?
A: 906 feet.
Q: How deep is the water at the end of the Pier?
A: 20 to 22 feet deep at high tide and 12 to 15 feet at low tide.
Q: Are dogs allowed to walk on the Pier?
A: No, for their own safety. There are sharp hooks and tackle etc. out there.
Q: Do you have fishing rods for rental?
A: Yes, we offer a rod rental package for $25 per day. Package includes, rod rental, fishing pass, & one tray of bait. Additional Tackle and Bait are also available at the tackle shop.
Q: Can you catch your own Bait at Second Avenue Pier?
A: Yes, when bait fish are running. We sell Cast Nets and buckets In the TACKLE SHOP.
Q: What are the Catch Limits?
A: You keep what you catch as long as you abide by SC DNR laws. King Mackerel fishing is NOT ALLOWED on the pier.
Q: Do you have Tackle?
A: Yes, we have a Full Service Tackle Shop.
Q: How much does it cost to fish if you have your own Rod and Gear?
A: A Daily Fishing Pass is $9.00.
Q: Can you catch Crabs at Second Avenue Pier?
A: Yes, you can catch crabs in season. Contact the South Carolina DNR, or call us for more information on crabbing.
Q: What’s biting?
A: That depends on the time of year. Flounder are caught from late Spring to late Fall. Spanish Mackerel can be caught in the summer, but tend to run in late Summer and Fall – King Mackerel fishing is NOT ALLOWED on the pier. Winter Trout can be caught in the colder months. For more specific information, consult the South Carolina DNR, or call our TACKLE SHOP.

Q: Is Alcohol permitted on the Pier?
A: You may NOT bring off premise alcohol onto the pier. Beer, Wine, Liquor, and Frozen Drinks are available @ PierView Open Air Bar.
Q: Can you leave and come back to the Pier without having to pay again?
A: Yes, fisherman get a wrist band that’s good until closing time.
Q: Can you buy a Weekly Fishing Pass?
A: No, because the weather can vary so much, and tends to change frequently and without notice, we can only sell Daily Fishing Passes.
Q: What accommodations are near 2nd Ave Pier?
A: There is no lodging associated with Second Avenue Pier.

Q: Is Second Avenue Pier Handicap Accessible?
A: Yes, we have an elevator and accessible restroom facilities.
Q: Where can we park our car?
A: There’s free parking (for our guests) between the pier & Ocean Boulevard. There is metered parking on 2nd Ave. N.
Q: Is it true that you have a Fireworks Show?
A: Yes, Wednesday Nights at 10:00 PM during peak season (WEATHER PERMITTING), the Oceanfront Merchants Association makes it possible for Second Avenue Pier to host a Fireworks Show. Please see our Event Calendar for Dates.
